About

Michael Foster

Born and raised in the UK I was always labelled as the ‘Drama Queen’ even from a young age. I was involved in various shows as a kid through to my teen years, even writing my own comedy sketches and performing those.

I decided to study Acting at The University of Wales: Trinity Saint David. For 3 years I was able to hone my craft and find where my specialties were, after graduating and taking time out to travel I eventually found myself teaching Drama alongside English in Thailand.

After returning to the UK I got acting roles as a supporting artist on television work, in between these jobs I also went to other countries to either perform or help out with the backstage side of things. Learning many skills in video editing, directing, stage managing, sound and lighting technician.

Later down the line I decided to return to studying and completed a Masters degree at Northumbria University in Creative and Cultural Industries Management. This took me into roles being able to use my skills for Drama Therapy. As well as becoming a project manager, creating an entirely new performing arts program for a UK charity.

During the time since completing my studies I have been involved again in theatre, performing with The Progressive Players in Gateshead, UK. I have also directed the UK’s first ever all autism production at The Arc in Stockton, UK. Setting up my own theatre company “Rising Stars”.

Now taking on new challenges in Austria I am currently involved as a drama coach with Showtime, as a director employed to ThIB and OHO, directing School of Rock in Burgenland as well as new shows with English Theatre Juniors, directing and acting in a production of “Anything is Possible if you think about it hard enough” by Cordelia O’Neill.

Outside of acting and directing I work full time with the International Screen Institute and Terra Mater Studios as a project manager, working with international films, TV shows and documentaries.
